Context:

Established in 1951, IOM is a related organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, IOM works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.

Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities. IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Governance, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.

IOM’s Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI) programme looks at building the capacity in labour migration management by offering policy and technical advise to national governments, civil society organizations, and the private sector; supporting the development of policies, legislation, and administrative structures that promote efficient, effective and transparent labour migration flows; assisting governments to promote and facilitate safe, fair and ethical labour migration practices to their nationals, employers, and private sector recruitment/placement agencies of migrant workers, including through pre-employment, pre-departure training and embarkation preparedness, human rights due diligence, and enhancing migrant workers’ access to grievance reporting mechanism and remediation; generating evidences to support well managed labour migration policies.

Under the direct supervision of Senior Project Associate and the overall supervision of the National Programme Officer for LMI, the incumbent will work in close coordination with the project team. The incumbent will be responsible for providing support to the implementation and monitoring of the relevant LMI various programmes/projects.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  1. Assist in data collection and analysis related to labor migration, human rights, and responsible business practices.
  2. Prepare research reports and policy documents based on findings.
  3. Assist in note-taking, reporting from meetings and workshops, and translating materials between Bahasa Indonesia and English.
  4. Support in drafting and designing content for visibility products, social media, project info sheets, press releases, and newsletters.
  5. Provide logistical and admin support for training and workshops for government and private sector stakeholders.
  6. Help develop monitoring and evaluation tools and reporting, such as through trackers and survey forms.
  7. Assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring project activities.
  8. Support in preparing progress reports and document activity outcomes.
  9. Consolidate data for project reports, graphics, and presentations.
  10. Provide logistical support for project activities and events.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned, under the guidance of the National Project Officer or Senior Project Associate.

Required Qualifications and Experience

EDUCATION

  • In the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent) or recent graduate of Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Social Science, Law, Communication or a related field;
  • And/or applicants who are enrolled in a second university degree (graduate school/equivalent) or have graduated with a university degree within one year of graduation.

EXPERIENCE

  • Indonesian National with good knowledge and understanding of migration issues in Indonesia context, is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in developing social media contents, publication, and drafting article will be highly considered.
  • Prior research/working experience in the field of social science, migration studies, communication, international relation is an advantage.
  • Relevant professional or volunteer experience with United Nations, civil society organization or volunteer groups, is an advantage.
  • Experience in advocacy works, data analysis, MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning) and project management is also desirable.
  • Familiar with P4 (Public Private People Partnership) approach.

SKILLS

  • Proficiency in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data effectively.
  • Ability to write clear and comprehensive reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and the local language.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and coordinate with various stakeholders.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in using office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and demonstrate sensitivity to gender and diversity issues.
  • Ability to work independently and show initiative.
  • Willing to learn new knowledge.
  • Good personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, analytical and creative thinking.

Languages 

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.

For this position, fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required (oral and written).
