JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Summary: 

The Public Relations & Liaison Coordinator will provide:

Strengthened relationships between Plan International and host government authorities, ensuring that all government procedures governing humanitarian and voluntary work are followed. The role will also offer day-to-day administrative support, managing visas, residence permits, travel notifications, and other official communications with relevant authorities. Additionally, the Coordinator will provide guidance on mitigating organizational risks related to government engagement, ensuring that Plan International’s values are upheld while fostering positive relations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The submission and approval of technical agreements with HAC and other relevant ministries. It ensures compliance with immigration, work permits, and national staff procedures. The Coordinator will track and manage visa, work permit, and travel permit applications, ensuring efficient processing and approval. They will represent Plan International in liaison meetings with government entities, handle official communications, and maintain organized records of all approvals. The role also includes collaborating with the Operations team to budget for government-related costs and preparing regular reports on the status of visa and work permit applications.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

A bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, or a related field, with at least four years of experience in humanitarian settings, particularly in public relations or liaison roles. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Sudan’s humanitarian context, including experience working with key donors such as ECHO, SIDA, SHF, and UNHCR. They will possess excellent negotiation and conflict management skills, especially in fast-paced, unpredictable environments, and demonstrate effective communication in both English and Arabic.
