Job Summary

The Senior Fellow will contribute to the program’s mission by conducting high-quality research, engaging with external stakeholders, participating in fundraising efforts, and contributing to program and institutional operations.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

Research: 
• Collaborate with the program director to plan and then conduct in-depth research and analysis projects addressing emerging issues for energy security and related policy issues.
• Publish reports, policy briefs, and commentaries on the CSIS website and in reputable journals and external platforms.
• Monitor global trends and developments in energy markets, climate policy, and international security to maintain leading expertise amongst peers.
External Engagement: 
• Engage with policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and media to disseminate research findings and pursue impact.
• Represent CSIS at conferences, seminars, and policy discussions in Washington, Houston, and globally.
• Build and maintain a network of contacts in government, industry, academia, and the NGO community.
• Provide expert commentary and analysis to media outlets.
 Fundraising: 
• Collaborate with the program director to raise dedicated support for projects and initiatives the Senior Fellow will lead.
• Collaborate with colleagues in the Economic Security and Technology Department and central development to engage with corporate partners across Texas through executive level in-person one-on-one meetings and briefings.
• Managing quarterly roundtables engaging current CSIS corporate members and supporters, while leveraging the events to attract new prospects.
• Aiding cultivation of the CSIS Dallas Roundtable through partnership with central development to enhance engagement strategies
Operations: 
• Dedicate approximately 8-10 days per month to on-site work at CSIS headquarters and/or business travel. Attend program meetings remotely as necessary.
• Assist in organizing events, workshops, and conferences hosted by the program.
• Supervise junior staff and interns in performance of assigned research tasks, providing guidance and mentorship.
• Coordinate with director and administrative staff to ensure efficient program operations.
• Contribute to strategic planning and development activities for the program, the Economic Security and Technology Department, and CSIS.

Qualification, Skill And Experience

• 6+ years of demonstrated work experience at a senior level in international or public policy development and research with industry, analytical or research community, or government. Supervisory work is strongly preferred.
• Respected expert with substantial knowledge and network related to energy and climate issues.
• Entrepreneurial approach with an action-oriented approach to identify challenges, establish priorities, and realize policy-relevant solutions.
• Experience in building and maintaining relationships with private sector, governments, organizations, academia, and/or international institutions.
• Demonstrated verbal, written, and communication skills, proficient public speaker with an ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from media, industry, government stakeholders.
