Role and responsibilities
Community Centre Assistant is a member of NRC’s Site Management Team in Rakhine State that provides direct site management services to Basara camp as well as capacity building and coaching committees in the camps. They will also reach out to IDPs living outside camps and the host community.
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
Assist with the implementation of the Site Management portfolio according to the plan of action
Conduct site management field activities independently according to the work plan and targets
Prepare and develop camp context situation analysis reports weekly basis
Manage, monitor and support camp-based team for the daily assignments
Ensure proper filing of the project supporting documents at camp offices and using Microsoft Office 365
Promote and share ideas for improvement of the site management response
Contribute to the fulfilment of the aims and objectives for NRC’s presence in Myanmar.
Carry out duties with respect to NRC Mission Statement, Values, Code of Conduct, standards of accountability, policy guidelines and handbooks
Specific responsibilities
Community Centre Assistant -(camp-based) will be expected to perform the following tasks:
Managing Community Centre activities, including planning, scheduling and coordination with service providers
Engage with Camp Management Committees and inclusive community groups, organizing and holding community meetings, ensuring AGDM approach
Support the team in defining the methods of community participation that ensure the greatest possible participation of vulnerable groups.
Assist in capacity building of Camp Management Committees, inclusive community groups etc.
Support the preparation of appropriate training materials as needed.
Maintain and build up good relations with stakeholders, CMCs, service providers, etc. and the communities in the camps
Assist in conducting recreational activities, camp cleaning campaigns, distributions, community-based projects, awareness raising and any other project activities.
Conduct qualitative assessments, key informant interviews and focus group discussions to identify community needs and gaps, reducing duplications in the field.
Maintain and share data collected regularly in coordination/collaboration with the SM team, and other NRC core competencies.
Assist the team in identifying and responding to emergency and urgent cases in the community.
Participate in any other related activity in coordination with the Line Manager.

Co-facilitation of community meetings and activities
Joint meetings with host community and IDPs outside camps
Support departments in NRC (e.g. Finance, Admin, HR, Logistics)

Experience from working in development or humanitarian /recovery context
Experience from doing community mobilization and training required
Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
Context related skills, knowledge and experience:
S/He should be good in English, Rakhine, and Myanmar languages. Some skills in local/Muslim language an advantage.
Experience from working in an insecure environment
Ability to travel in rural areas
Ability to work in a cross-cultural setting
Willingness to learn and adapt to the fast – changing field dynamics
