Duties and Responsibilities
We are seeking highly motivated individuals who wish to gain professional experience in project management and reporting, administrative procedures and practices, and broader data analysis within an international organization in order to supplement their studies. The individuals will also assist in drafting guidance documents, revewing budgets and capturing lessons learned related to facilities and infrastructure of UN Secretariat entities. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: – Research and compile information relating to project objectives, scope, cost, schedule, implementation strategies and benefits as they relate to project proposals and submissions; – Research, compile and analyze data records and transactions related to real estate portfolio management and lease administration; – Assist in drafting and preparing official documents, reports and presentations; – Attend and summarize conferences and meetings; – Generate a variety of statistical and other reports using various databases in Excel and SAP; – Conduct evaluation of projects; – Identify variances between approved budgets and actual project expenditures; – Liaise with other Sections in FOFD and/or other UN entities on administrative matters. – Perform ad hoc tasks as needed.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point. Good data visualization and presentation skills are desirable. Academic training in risk management, cost-benefit analysis, etc. is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
