Your Role at a Glance

As a Child Protection Programme Officer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and monitoring child protection initiatives. Your work will directly contribute to creating safer environments for children, especially those in vulnerable groups, including refugees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Programme Development and Planning: Conduct situation analyses, align programme goals with organizational priorities, and ensure integration with other sectors such as education and health.
  • Programme Management and Monitoring: Track progress, evaluate outcomes, and ensure efficient resource use while maintaining compliance with organizational policies and donor commitments.
  • Technical and Operational Support: Provide expert guidance to partners on policies, frameworks, and best practices, with a focus on EU strategies and international standards.
  • Networking and Partnership Building: Forge strong collaborations with government, national and international stakeholders, and contribute to advocacy and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Innovation and Capacity Building: Leverage innovative approaches, including ICT tools, to enhance programme delivery and support knowledge sharing and stakeholder capacity building.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: A university degree in sociology, social assistance, psychology, human rights, international law, or a related social science field.
  • Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience in child protection, social development planning, or related areas.
  • Skills: Knowledge of social system strengthening, evidence-based policy advocacy, monitoring and evaluation, and the use of digital tools.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Romanian is required. Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.

Desirables:

  • Experience with EU policies and tools, UN system agencies, and both development and humanitarian contexts is highly desirable.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
