The Economic Recovery officer will be responsible for the implementation of all livelihood activities related to the economic recovery projects in including providing technical and enhanced life & business skills training, productive activities, coaching sessions, employment & post-employment services, on the job training & job placement and matching.

About the job

The individual will report directly to the Economic Recovery – Team Leader. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Counseling and Training:
    • Assist in the development and roll-out of a livelihood counseling form to assess beneficiary profile, needs, and employment eligibility;
    • Provide one-on-one support to community center beneficiaries to identify appropriate referral pathways;
    • Assist in the day-to-day implementation of all DRC livelihood activities, including on-job-training, vocational training, job referrals, job fairs, and all skills and self-reliance training programs.
    • Input all profile and referral data into DRC’s database
    • Share the best practices and market information with the beneficiary
    • Ensure ongoing support in terms of training, legal information, market linkages and marketing.
    • Taking the best interest of the beneficiary, map out the beneficiary’s next steps after the counseling session are done.
  • Coordination and Referral:
    • Contribute to the development of a livelihood referral system in coordination with the Economic Recovery team leader, including the identification of various job opportunities and training services available to Syrian refugees and Jordanians;
    • Track referrals made to and from the DRC community center to measure impact;
    • Provide support to beneficiaries so that they are able to maximize use of resources;
    • Follow-up internally and externally on referrals made;
  • Relationship Building and Representation
    • In coordination with the economic recovery team leader, develop, maintain and update a network with identified livelihood service providers, employers, and civil society organizations;
    • Communicate with referral partners in a professional and timely way so as to enhance DRC’s reputation among other humanitarian actors as a responsive NGO;
    • Communicate with beneficiaries in a professional, patient, and respectful way, so as to enhance DRC’s reputation as a high-quality humanitarian actor in the community.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Assist in the collection of information regarding beneficiary and community needs;
    • Communicate information on beneficiary needs, service gaps, and feedback on the quality of services to managers, as assigned
    • Assist the M&E team in conducting feedback sessions for trainees.
    • Record any Complaint received and follow up on it with the relevant party
    • Conduct Quality Checklist with partners
  • Other:
    • Support the planning and design of future interventions;
    • Assist in the enforcement of HAP Principles of Accountability;
    • Ensure that DRC Code of Conduct and DRC Policies and Procedures are well followed.
    • Coordinate with other team members for protection mainstreaming,
    • Other tasks assigned by the direct line manager.

About you

  • Bachelor or higher in a relevant area (e.g. economics, development studies, Business)
  • 2 – 3 years of experience working with an INGO Livelihoods programming or Economic recovery
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster communication among local stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • KOBO and other data collection application skills
  • Experience with relationship management, working in local and vulnerable communities
  • Ability to work effectively as an integral part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural team and to work with a wide range of government and community counterparts, and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving vulnerable individuals with respect, patience, and understanding
  • Understanding of the socio-economic conditions of Syrian refugee populations is preferred
  • Good understanding of the socio-economic norms and habits in Jordan
  • Good understanding of the private sector, vocational training centers, incubators, cooperatives, etc.. ecosystem in Jordan
