JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview and Job Summary
The WRI China Communications Manager is a key member of the office, working closely with the China teams (Program teams and core function teams) and the communication teams from all other WRI international offices and global programs to develop and carry out high-quality, effective and timely communications.
This position requires a broad range of professional communication skills that will advance WRI’s work in China to advance the reputation of the office and support its programs. The position requires strong skills in writing, editing, media relations, website content development and social media. The position requires working directly with media and other stakeholders to advance messages to the domestic media in China and internationally media.
She/he will work to build the profile and credibility of WRI China among key stakeholders through the media and online, including overseeing the WRI China website. She/he will be responsible for ensuring that all written materials (both Chinese and English) meet WRI’s standards, and work with program staff to develop new outreach products, such as fact sheets, press releases, etc. She/he will also oversee events in China for WRI staff and leadership in China and from other international offices.
On this role , She/he need to lead the communication team by setting clear goals, delegating tasks, providing feedback, and motivating the team to achieve high performance.
Job Responsibilities
1. Strategic Communication Planning and Execution/ 传播战略规划与落地
  • Develop comprehensive communication strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and objectives, including short- and long-term plans.
制定符合组织使命与目标的整体传播战略,包括短期和长期传播计划;
  • Translate strategies into actionable communication actions and deliverables driving cross-programs/offices/functions collaboration to ensure efficient execution
将战略分解为可执行的传播行动和成果,推动跨项目/办公室/职能部门协作并确保高效落地,;
  • Provide timely support to the China program communications team, including capacity building, mechanism improvement, internal communications support, etc.
及时为中国项目传播团队提供支持,包括能力建设、机制完善、内部传播支持等多个维度
  • Identify communication opportunities and risks, propose innovative solutions, and enhance the organization’s public impact.
  • 识别传播机会与风险,提出创新解决方案,提升组织的公众影响力。
2. Brand Management /品牌管理
  • Maintain and strengthen the organization’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all communications and alignment with WRI’s global brand values.
  • 维护并强化组织品牌形象,确保传播内容符合品牌全球价值观;
  • Promote the organization’s programs, events, and values through multi-channel communication.
  • 通过多渠道传播推广组织的项目、活动和核心价值。
3. Media and Public Relations/ 媒体与公共关系
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with media, partners, and stakeholders.

  • For public opinion crisis, with close collaboration with China Compliance team, develop crisis management plans in advance and respond swiftly to emergencies.

4. Communication Coordination / 沟通与协调
  • Respond to WRI global requests and coordinate with WRI China leadership and program staff for support and information requests;
  • 回应WRI全球请求,并与WRI中国领导层和项目工作人员协调支持和信息请求;
  • Support communication activities for WRI China events and external events, including arranging and sending out media invitations and overseeing the design and production of event materials;
  • 支持WRI中国活动和外部活动的沟通活动,包括安排和发送媒体邀请,监督活动材料的设计和制作;

5. Leadership, collaboration and Team Management /合作与团队管理

  • Build and manage the communication team, develop team members’ skills, and support their professional growth

6. Communication Effectiveness Evaluation / 传播效果评估
  • Establish mechanisms to evaluate communication effectiveness and regularly report key communication goals indicators

Qualifications

  • At least 5-6 years of professional experience in a communications field, either with the news media, non-governmental organization (NGO), or public relations firm;
  • 在新闻媒体、非政府组织或公共关系公司拥有至少5-6年的传播领域专业经验;
  • Deep understanding of international organizations and strong commitment to sustainable development.;
  • 对国际组织有较为深入的了解,且对可持续发展有坚定信念和深刻理解;
  • Proficiency in website management and email marketing, with expertise in managing operations on domestic and international social media platforms, including WeChat, Weibo, LinkedIn, facebbok, and X, with keen awareness of global trends and public sentiment.

  • Willingness and ability to work travel throughout China and internationally. Adaptability to cross-cultural work environments, international and domestic travel, and multi-time-zone collaboration.

  • Bachelor’s degree required , with Masters preferred;
  • 学士学位,硕士优先;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Mandarin, with professional experience;

  • Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including senior representatives at NGOs, business and government;
