JOB DESCRIPTION

Background

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is seeking a partner organization to license essential datasets related to agro-dealer networks and seed sales. The datasets include 2020 census data on agro-dealers and panel data that track trends of seed sales among agro-dealers in subsequent years. These datasets will be pivotal in informing research on seed systems, agro-input markets, and policy recommendations aimed at improving agricultural productivity and food security.

The selected organization will be responsible for granting IFPRI access to these datasets, ensuring they are properly cleaned, validated, and documented. The datasets must be accompanied by comprehensive metadata, ensuring they are ready for immediate analysis by IFPRI researchers. The partner will work closely with IFPRI to address any data-related issues and provide the necessary support for efficient data usage.

Scope of work

  • License access to the 2020 census dataset on agro-dealers
  • License access to panel datasets tracking seed sales among agro-dealers.
  • Where applicable provide metadata and a comprehensive documentation package for both datasets
  • Ensure the data is ready for immediate use by IFPRI researchers, with quality checks and validation completed.
  • Collaborate with IFPRI to address any issues related to data usability or interpretation.

Required qualifications of the organization

  • Ownership of the 2020 census data on agro-dealers and associated panel datasets on seed sales.
  • Demonstrated experience in licensing high-quality, well-documented datasets to international research organizations.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver validated, ready-to-use data.
  • Established track record of contributing to research in seed systems and agro-input markets.

Preferred qualifications

  • Exclusive ownership of relevant datasets
  • Previous collaborations with international research organizations, including IFPRI.
  • Experience supporting studies on agricultural markets, seed systems, or agro-dealers.
  • Knowledge of agro-input markets and seed systems is an advantage
