JOB DESCRIPTION

ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a technical research expert in Veterinary Sciences or Agriculture for an upcoming Service Learning Corps Assignment. ACDI/VOCA’s Feed the Future Bangladesh Livestock and Nutrition (LAN) Activity requests volunteer assistance to support the qualitative measurement of project-facilitated outcomes. The volunteer will provide technical expertise and an objective perspective to enhance the robustness of the measurement process, ensuring the findings contribute valuable insights for project learning and adaptation.

This is a 3-month assignment, scheduled to start ASAP (December 2024 – February 2025).

Responsibilities

The selected volunteer will coordinate with LAN and ACDI/VOCA monitoring & evaluation, as well as technical staff, in conducting an Outcome Harvest. Outcome Harvest is a qualitative systems change measurement method that involves the development of outcome descriptions around project facilitated outcomes. The volunteer is expected to provide technical expertise and a level of objectivity to ensure robust measurement and increased value of learning (obtained from the Outcome Harvest) for project adaptation. The Outcome Harvest is being led by the LAN MEL team with support from ACDI/VOCA’s MEL and technical team.

Preparation

  • Review relevant project documents and reports
  • Review similar Outcome Harvest reports to become familiar with the methodology and expected deliverables

Data collection and coding

  • Review and provide feedback on key informant interview (KII) and focus group discussion (FGD) guides and tools
  • Participate in KII/FGD facilitation and sense-making sessions
  • Participate in data coding, as feasible

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Veterinary or Animal Sciences, Agriculture or another relevant field
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement, data analysis (both qualitative and quantitative), and monitoring and evaluation tools such as outcome mapping or theory of change frameworks
  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel and apps like Zoom, WhatsApp, Facebook Etc.
  • Previous international experience a plus
