JOB DESCRIPTION

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is an operational arm of the United Nations, supporting the successful implementation of its partners’ peacebuilding, humanitarian and development projects around the world. Mandated as a central resource of the United Nations, UNOPS provides sustainable project management, procurement and infrastructure services to a wide range of governments, donors and United Nations organizations.

 

In consultation with the Partnership Development Officer, the Partnerships Associate supports business acquisition and partnerships for the North Africa region within UNOPS key focus and service areas through the following:

Partnerships

  • Support in identifying funding/partnership opportunities within governments, UN agencies, bilateral and multilateral organizations, non-governmental organizations, foundations and the private sector
  • Assist the Partnerships Development Officer to develop expression of interests, concept notes and proposals for potential new projects
  • Participate in meetings with donors and partners and produce high quality meeting minutes and action-oriented summaries
  • Support the Partnership Development Officer in preparing ublication and sharing of information and knowledge with colleagues, clients and partners. Preparation of briefing materials as required for mission travel and/or discussion on project activities
  • Maintain up-to-date repository of all donors, funding cycles and engagement modalities
  • Support the lead Partnership Specialist and Project Managers during strategic mission

Communication

  • Support the visibility of UNOPS in North Africa (e.g. through social networks, participation in events, visual branding etc.) in coordination with the SNMCO Communication Officer
  • In consultation with the communication officer, prepare external communication materials customized for target key audiences such as donors, UN agencies, governments, foundations, NGOs, civil society and private sector for effective outreach among existing and potential partners
  • Develop contents, presentations, correspondence, briefings, talking points and all other external communication material including content for social media
  • Support ensuring that the achievements of the Hub’s outstanding projects are properly captured in the right communication formats for external outreach purpose
  • Support Partner Surveys and resulting action plans.

 

Education:

  • Completion of Secondary School education is required
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in international affairs, law, business administration, social sciences, economics, agriculture, environmental studies, development studies or another field relevant to international development assistance in combination with an additional 2 years’ relevant experience is accepted.

Experience

  • 6 years of relevant work experience with completion of secondary school education is required
  • Experience working directly with internal and external partners, including Governments and international donors is required
  • Experience in professional proposal writing is required
  • Previous experience in North Africa is an asset
  • Good knowledge of Google Suite tools and experience in handling web-based management systems is an asset
  • Experience in UNOPS or other UN agencies is an asset.

Languages:

  • Full working knowledge of English and French is essential.

Terms and Conditions

Tunisia

The Tunisia Project Office is responsible for managing strategic and operational risks associated with the Project Office’s portfolio of engagements (in Tunisia, Morocco, Libya and Algeria) – as part of the Senegal Multi Country Office (MCO) set up, developing and delivering cost effective services contributing to partners’ sustainable results and achievements of UNOPS management results.

UNOPS Tunisia activities range from tailor-made administration, operations, human resources and logistics support for implementation of development and humanitarian projects; infrastructure and procurement management services; and advisory services to partners (in Tunisia, Morocco, Libya and Algeria) to facilitate effective procurement, supply and financial management. Partners include the Government of Tunisia, European Union and UN agencies such as UNHCR and WHO. It provides project management services including design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. It also offers funds management, loan and grant administration, building local capacity markets, training and technical assistance.
