Mission and objectives
Youth Co:Lab positions young people front and center in order to solve the region’s most pressing challenges. Co-created in 2017 by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Citi Foundation, Youth Co:Lab aims to establish a common agenda for countries in the Asia-Pacific region to empower and invest in youth so that they can accelerate the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through leadership, social innovation and entrepreneurship.
Context
The “Leave No One Behind” principle underscores the necessity of inclusive participation from all sectors of society, encompassing governments, civil society organizations (CSOs), women, youth, indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, the private sector, and etc. for the successful implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNDP and its partners advocate that young persons with disabilities possess the capacity to play leadership roles, foster inclusive communities, and reach out to the most vulnerable and marginalized populations. By engaging in social innovation, mobilizing the communities, and devising adaptive and innovative solutions, young persons with disabilities can effect positive change and tackle the challenges outlined in the 2030 Agenda. UNDP BRH Youth Unit is actively exploring UNDP’s regional initiatives on empowering young persons with disabilities while addressing Leaving No One Behind. The stories mapped from this assignment will be utilized in newsletters, annual reviews, and shared with UNDP staff. This process is crucial in enhancing our comprehension of UNDP’s ongoing efforts related to disability inclusion and LNOB, and the stories we mapped will be used to update project documents for the Youth and Persons with Disabilities portfolio.
