JOB DESCRIPTION

Title of Assignment: Project manager to help ensure efficient and effective delivery of the 2025 Workplan projects and activities.

Name of unit/sector: Division for Arab Countries.

Place of assignment: World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland.

Expected duration of assignment: One year : February 1, 2025 to January 30, 2026

1. Objective of the assignment

The assignment of the Individual Contractual Service (ICS) provider will be undertaken in order to meet current needs for the Division for Arab Countries regarding the deliverables specified below.

2. Deliverables/services

The Consultant, will be responsible for the following tasks to be undertaken in parallel and in a coordinated manner.
a) Ensure the implementation of the project on IP and Sport for two countries in the Region. once approved as a proposal to the FIT/Japan IP Global.
b) Manage the implementation of a project on IP and Women Entrepreneurship to help create a supporting system to facilitate the management and commercialization of IP by female-headed enterprises in three Arab countries.
c)  Coordinate IP Management Clinics Programs in three countries and one subregional Institution in coordination with IP Business Division, IES.
d) Serve as DAC’s focal point for the main projects/ activities with the AWIPO Academy in the region namely the Summer camp for the Youth; the IP 4 Youth and Teachers; the Summer Schools and the Support for National IP Training Institutes in six Arab Countries.
e)  Coordinate DAC’s support for the development of the Music Industry project in two countries in close coordination with the Copyright Development Senior Coordinator.
f) Serve as DAC’s focal point for Youth and Gender.
g) Assist in the compilation and preparation of briefing notes for the Director General’s and Deputy Director General’s meetings with Member State representatives.
h) Contribute to the preparation of inputs/ reports for the Division, including project and budget revisions, program performance evaluations, and the annual budget and work plan.
The Consultant may be asked to undertake other related tasks and missions as required.

3. Reporting 

The Consultant shall work in direct coordination with the Director, Regional Bureau for Arab countries, Regional and National Development Sector.

4. Profile 

The ICS will be selected accordingly to following requirements and qualifications:
• Proven four/five years of experience as a project consultant preferably with WIPO with confirmed and successful project implementation;
• Excellent  written and spoken command of English, French and Arabic;
• Strong knowledge of the social, economic and legal realities of the Arab region;
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective partnerships and working relations in a multicultural environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity
• University degree in Intellectual Property Rights.
• A formal background in law.

5. Duration of contract and payment

For the duration of the contract from February 1, 2025 to January 30, 2026 and for the services described above, applicants are requested to provide an indication of their remuneration expectations in Swiss francs (daily rate).
