Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund was established in 1949 by the United Nations General Assembly to provide retirement, death, disability, and related benefits for staff of the United Nations and other member organizations of the Fund. The Pension Fund pays benefits in 17 currencies to more than 80,000 beneficiaries who reside in 190 countries, and services more than 140,000 participants who work in the 24 member organizations of the Pension Fund. The Fund has offices in New York (United States) and Geneva (Switzerland) and two liaison offices in Nairobi (Kenya) and Bangkok (Thailand), respectively. The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund-Pension Administration (UNJSPF-PA) comprises about 250 staff from diverse countries and cultures, based across four prominent duty stations (New York, Geneva, Bangkok, and Nairobi). Under the supervision of the Training Officer in the Business Support Section, the Individual Contractor will be responsible for the following duties: The daily responsibilities of individuals will be contingent upon their backgrounds, encompassing tasks such as supporting learning and development activities, projects, and general team responsibilities. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Documenting external training records and evaluation forms. • Responding to inquiries and information requests regarding staff learning opportunities. • Promoting learning resource information on SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams channels, and other platforms. • Tracking, monitoring, and reporting on learning activities through established data collection methods. • Assisting in the organization of meetings, webinars, and in-house learning initiatives. • Monitoring the utilization of the training budget against the approved budget. • Work implies frequent interaction with all staff of the pension fund. • Maintain records of training activities, attendance, and participant feedback. • Schedule training sessions and manage logistics, including booking venues and arranging equipment. • Assist participants with any technical issues or questions during training. • Provide support to trainers and instructors during sessions, such as setting up equipment and distributing materials.
Qualifications/special skills
High School diploma or a first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in learning development, education or related area in an international setting is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the advertised post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Note: ‘Fluency’ means a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speaking, reading, writing, and understanding), while ‘knowledge of’ means a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas. Fluency in French is an asset. Knowledge of other official United Nations languages is an advantage.
