Location information

The holder of this position will operate in the medium-sized centres in the district capitals of Obongi and Adjumani in the West Nile region, and will live and work there. Regular business trips to the surrounding larger cities (Gulu, Arua and Kampala, the capital) are envisaged. Basic medical care is guaranteed, with a good selection of medical facilities available in Kampala in particular. In the event of a complicated medical emergency, however, care would need to be provided abroad (either in Kenya or Germany). The climate is tropical. The supply situation on the ground is limited to essentials although the larger medium-sized centres – within an hour’s drive – have a decent range of goods. Regular trips are made to the capital Kampala in order to replenish supplies, including foreign products. There are no (international) schools in the assignment locations, although local options are available for smaller children of per-school age.
