JOB DESCRIPTION

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is looking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, and confident DEMAC Lead Coordinator (DLC) for Diaspora Emergency Action and Coordination (DEMAC) for 18 months.

About the job

The DLC is a senior position for DEMAC and will be responsible for day-to-day implementation and coordination of activities for DEMAC Global grants. As one of two DEMAC Coordinators, with the other one being an Emergency Coordinator focusing on DEMAC operational responses, the DLC will lead the overall planning, implementation, and management of global projects.

Main Duties

The DLC is guided by the DEMAC Advisory Board and is managed by the DRC Head of DEMAC & Diaspora Programme (HDDP). The main role of the position is to manage and lead the implementation of the DEMAC global grants and serve as Team Lead for our Research & MEAL Specialist; Capacity Development Specialist, Communication Officer, Admin and Logistic Officer, and Student Assistant.

Team Management:

  • Ensure that DEMAC staff under management have clear roles, responsibilities, and objectives, with regular oversight and guidance.
  • Foster a constructive, collaborative, and inclusive working environment and team culture.

Project Management & Coordination

  • Lead DEMAC Coordination efforts through up to date project cycle management tools and weekly meetings
  • Coordinate, supervise, monitor, and evaluate activities in line with agreed strategies, work plans, DRC guidelines, and donor requirements, in close collaboration with the Head of DDP, DEMAC Emergency Coordinator, and DEMAC Specialists.
  • Manage Budget Finance, procurement, and administration of global grants working closely with finance and supply chain colleagues.
  • Ensure transparent and regular communications with donors (BHA, IOM, Danida, H2H, Dutch MFA), key DRC colleagues (e.g., Country Directors, Emergency Unit, Localization Unit), diaspora partners, and other external stakeholders.
  • Lead the planning and execution of external events, including conferences, workshops, and webinars.

Project Quality Control

  • Together with DEMAC Emergency Coordinator and DEMAC Research & MEAL Specialist, coordinate, supervise, monitor and evaluate the implementation of activities in the different geographical areas in accordance with agreed strategies, principles, implementation plans, DRC guidelines and donor requirements
  • Ensure the project progress is effectively monitored through regular data collection, analysis of indicators and activities and documented with proper sources of verification.

Representation

  • Represent DEMAC in public fora, with donors, and at workshops or conferences related to diaspora engagement and humanitarian initiatives, protecting and promoting the vision, mission and interests of DEMAC.

Strategy Development and Ressource Mobilization

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of DEMAC’s overall strategy
  • Drive proposal development efforts, in collaboration with the DEMAC team, to ensure alignment with program goals and donor priorities.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have at least 8 years of professional experience in a relevant field, preferably in an NGO or humanitarian actor. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

  • A least 8 years’ experience with minimum 2 in a team lead position with coordination
  • University degree in a relevant field such as international development, humanitarian. assistance, political science, or other related field
  • Solid experience from all steps in the project management cycle, including M&E, report-writing, fundraising, etc.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills in English.
  • Experience working with CSOs and/or diaspora organisations
  • Ability to act as dialogue partner and facilitator for a diverse group of people.
  • Open to an innovative and agile managerial approach: shared leadership
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Lived experience as a member of a diaspora community is considered is an advantage

  • Arabic, French, Spanish, Danish and other languages an advantage

We offer

Contract length: 18 months

Work place: DRC HQ, Borgergade 10, DK 1300 Copenhagen K, Denmark. DRC’s headquarters in Copenhagen will move to Lyngbyvej 100, 2100 Østerbro, just by Ryparken station, in the fall of 2025.

Start date: As soon as possible

The position is temporary. It could be extended pending successful fundraising. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with the agreement between DRC and AC. This is a national position for which local terms and conditions apply.
