UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.
The UN Women Indonesia Country Office (CO) hosts the ASEAN Liaison Office, which supports ASEAN and its Member States in advancing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda in line with global normative frameworks. In this context, UN Women Indonesia launched the five-year project Empowering Women for Sustainable Peace: Preventing Violence and Promoting Social Cohesion in ASEAN (ASEAN WPS Regional Project). It also facilitates capacity-building activities, including training sessions, workshops, dialogues, consultations, and the exchange of knowledge and good practices.
