WHY JOIN WFP?
Purpose of the Internship Programme
The Internship Programme is a unique learning opportunity aimed at attracting young and talented candidates who aspire to contribute to the mission of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, and its mission is to help the world achieve Zero Hunger in our lifetimes. Every day, WFP works globally to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.
This programme will provide successful candidates with the opportunity to put into practice and implement their academic knowledge in a field related to WFP’s work. Through this experience, participants will gain a better understanding of WFP’s mandate and programmes while contributing to its objectives. In turn, the programme offers WFP access to qualified individuals specializing in relevant fields, aligning with WFP’s Strategic Objectives and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
About WFP’s Mandate
WFP’s activities include food assistance for relief, school feeding, safety nets, nutrition support, and food assistance for assets creation through in-kind and cash-based transfers. These efforts aim to enhance food security and resilience among vulnerable populations.
Interns will join an efficient and dynamic team and play a critical role in supporting the implementation of WFP’s Country Strategic Plan, contributing meaningfully to WFP’s fight against hunger and malnutrition.
