Infectious Diseases Division has focused on Antimicrobial Resistance studies to understand and address the social and behavioral drivers of AMR. The goal is to develop more effective and impactful research by involving communities in the research process.

Position Description:
The Senior Research Officer will report to the Senior Research Investigator and will be responsible for conducting qualitative research into public health issues including COVID-19; providing necessary support on proposal development; developing and implementing rigorous protocols; supervising junior researchers within the guidelines of the organizational values and guidelines. She/he will be also involved in –

• Plan for field work (field site selection, requisitions for logistics/transport/petty cash etc.) and validate with supervisor;
• Understand research protocol and data collection techniques;
• Work with supervisor in developing research tools for the studies;
• Train field staff on research methods and protocol activities;
• Provide instruction and guidance to field staff during the implementation of the study;
• Managed field team and maintain good relations with study team as well as community participants;
• Guide team members to transcribe interviews verbatim;
• Develop a data analysis plan;
• Direct team members to create a coded dataset of responses using interview transcriptions;
• Analyze datasets and prepare preliminary analyses in order to capture data and information for analysis;
• Control quality of data by implementing monitoring tools in the field;
• Resolve issues and raise problems to the Supervisor; if required;
• Write an initial report based on one’s own analysis, experience and understanding of the work;
• Discuss all team members’ initial reports together for consensus on findings;
• Guide team members on completion of tasks, activities, reports and documents (e.g. qualitative research methods).

Required qualifications and experience:

• Masters in Anthropology or Sociology from a reputed university with good academic records.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience.

Location: Dhaka.

Contract Type and Duration:

• Fixed Term; duration will be 01 year with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & Benefits:

• Annual Tk. 9,09,360/- inclusive of house rent, conveyance, and other admissible benefits;
• 14.8% provident fund contribution, income tax paid by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,917/- per child per month, festival bonus, contributory healthcare support including dependent spouse and children, group life insurance, and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
