The Program for HIV and AIDS under the Health System and Population Studies Division (HSPSD) at icddr,b provides good quality HIV prevention services to key populations at risk of HIV infection. This has been made possible by working with the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), donors, NGOs and CBOs. The Program has been conducting a surveillance of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) in Dhaka.

Key responsibilities:

The Field Assistant will report to Senior Administration Officer and will be responsible to arrange logistics for field visits, assist collecting samples and data as relevant to the study specially from key populations (KPs) in Dhaka. This position holder will also coordinate KPs vising drop-in-centers (DICs)/Hijra dera. He/She will ensure storing and transportation of samples to the lab of icddr,b.

The Field Assistant will be responsible for the following:

• Assist to collect samples and data from key populations (KPs);
• Ensure logistical support to the field teams;
• Meet and greet participants and talk to them and refer them to the counseling officer or doctor in the team according to the type of service they require;
• Keeping regular deposit and expenditure account of medicines kept in the office and maintain proper storage.
• Assist in filling up Google sheet of SRHR services;
• Assist in carrying of all equipment used in field to conduct surveillance and services work.

Required qualifications and experience:

• SSC or equivalent;
• Good knowledge of field works;
• Minimum 1-year relevant work experience with key populations (KPs) such as MSM, MSW and Hijra in Dhaka;
• In order to build rapport with the KPs and to ensure a good communication during samples and data collection and providing SRHR services to them, it is mandatory to have prior experience of working with MSM, MSW, Hijra and also to have prior knowledge of Ulti language (KP’s community language) and other behavioral aspects of the KPs.

Contract Type and Duration:

• CSA for 3 (three) months with a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 26,583.00/-per month (consolidated) inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances;
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen; Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
