This position is located within the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) with duty station in Kabul. The Field Security Assistant reports to the Chief of Physical Security Unit through the International Duty Officer/ GFU Compound Supervisor
Responsibilities
The Field Security Assistant reports to the Chief of Physical Security Unit (PSU) through the International Duty Officer / GFU Compound Supervisor on all issues related to operations in the GFU at UNOCA. S/he will assist with data consolidation and dissemination of relevant security information; Assists with the preparation of any security related documents; Provides support during the implementation of the Security Plan; assists with the preparation of the Training courses, related presentations, and documents. Major duties and responsibilities: • Provides general administrative support services to assist the Chief of Physical Security Unit (PSU) and the International Duty Officer / GFU Compound Supervisor to fulfil their duties in the management of the UNOCA compound. • Assists the Chief of Physical Security Unit (PSU) and the International Duty Officer / GFU Compound Supervisor in managing access control at UNOCA compound. • Assists the Chief of Physical Security Unit (PSU) and the International Duty Officer / GFU Compound Supervisor with the preparation of any Guard Force related documents, reports, activities as well as providing administrative assistance. • Drafts correspondence and maintains records for the Guard Force Security Training Courses. • Assists in reviewing the logistics requirements and other related actions required for the preparation of Guard Force Training, drills, and other security exercises. • Monitors and facilitates the implementation of Guard Force security policies and procedures. • Provides support in organizing and conducting security awareness and preparedness activities, and provides security orientation to newly assigned staff members, as well as conducting security briefings, as required. • Conducts access control procedures, patrols, and ensures security of the Mission premises and issues building entry passes as appropriate. • Alerts for any potential or actual breaches of security and any disturbances or unusual activities and report this immediately. • Conducts radio checks with all security guards on duty. • Any other duty as required by the Chief of Physical Security Unit (PSU) and or the International Duty Officer / GFU Compound Supervisor. • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. • Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures.

Education
A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in safety and security functions is required. The minimum years of experience is reduced to one (1) year for candidates with a first-level university degree or equivalent.

Work Experience
With a First-level university degree or equivalent, one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in safety and security functions is required. With high school diploma or upper secondary education, a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in safety and security functions is required. Good knowledge of Kabul city, local roads and conditions of the Security Area is desirable. Knowledge of security rules, regulations, and procedures of UN including fire safety and first aid procedures, as well as standard security and safety procedures is desirable. Prior experience of serving in the Military, Police and any other security organization is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and Pashto or Dari languages is required
