About your role:

WRI India is seeking a Programmer who will be an integral member of WRI India’s Ross Centre for Sustainable Cities – GeoAnalytics team and will work on a variety of data driven analyses across our core practice areas, leveraging data, information and technical expertise to make informed urban infrastructure choices and design. The role involves working with colleagues across cohorts, providing core analytical expertise, customized visualization and interfaces that help in producing insights related to the core practice areas of WRI India. By transforming data into actionable insights and solutions, we aim to assist our stakeholders to design solutions that enable sustainable city growth.

How your day will unfold:

• Develop, execute, and optimize scripts for data acquisition, processing, analysis, and modelling on projects related to urban development, water resilience and transport
• Work with project teams to assess and organize complex data assets from a variety of sources for spatial modeling, preferable experience with remote sensing and GIS data
• Conduct data exploration and quantitative research, implement algorithms and provide customized analytical solutions and insights to meet project requirements
• Develop and prepare interactive dashboards, interfaces and applications (mobile and web)
• Maintain source code integrity in Github with proper coding practices and documentation

Qualifications and requirements we seek:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other related fields. Master’s degree with specialization in GeoInformatics is preferred.
• 4-7 years of relevant work experience. Work experience in geospatial industry would be a plus
• Proficiency in Python, R, Javascript, HTML, CSS, Django, PHP, SQL, Postgresql & PostGIS, Java, Kotlin, and frameworks related to web, mobile application development, and database management
• Experience in cloud computing with AWS, Azure, and Google cloud strongly preferred
• Big data handling (Hadoop) is a strong plus
• Experience in Business modeling tools such as Tableau and PowerBI
• Proficiency in GIS software including ESRI ArcGIS Desktop 10.x, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, Quantum GIS, MapInfo or similar is a strong plus

Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.

Duration: 1 year (Extendable based on performance and project requirements)
