icddr,b is a Bangladesh-based international health research institute that strives to solve key public health problems through high-quality scientific research and innovation. icddr,b as a values-based organization encourages women and people with disabilities.

The project is under the Programme for Emerging Infections aims to identify and support high-risk mothers and collect maternal samples to determine the source of infections responsible for perinatal deaths. Additionally, the project will disseminate its scientific findings among government and private stakeholders.

Position Description:
The Study Physician will report to the Research Investigator and will be mainly responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:

• Develop new research ideas, concept notes and research proposals;
• Patient enrolment, carrying out physical examination, doing biological tests, interpreting test results and follow-up study participants;
• Collaborate closely with the CHAMPS call-in center physician, operating 24/7;
• Contact high-risk pregnant mothers, invite them to visit BUHC for ANC and additional follow-up care;
• Provide comprehensive follow-up support to mothers, coordinating with the Welcome person and study nurse for their attendance;
• Maintain a database of the follow-up of high-risk mothers and family and also follow-ups them at BUHC;
• Train and supervise study staff on screening, data collection, sample collection procedures, and maintain study records;
• Enroll eligible patients and collect their demographic, clinical and epidemiological data;
• Assist to collect clinical specimen from eligible patients and process for further laboratory testing;
• Assist data management officer to Maintain data quality in the database;
• Address questions made by participants, supervisors, investigators and donors;
• Prepare and share weekly and monthly reports and work plans as per deliverables;
• Review information on data captured and develop possible manuscript ideas under the guidance of Principal Investigator, Co-investigators, Senior Research Investigator and Research Investigator;
• Perform analysis based on direction from supervisor;
• Provide on-the-job training to junior staff such as data entry in online platform;
• Provide feedback on team members’ performance to the supervisor in order to develop an efficient team;
• Maintain liaison with the other collaborators, stakeholders and NGOs;

Required qualification and experience:

• MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council with completion of one-year internship training;
• Candidates with MPH will get preference;
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the field of maternal and child health and related government health system.

Contract Type and duration:

• Short-Term Contractual Service Agreement; duration will be 6 monthswith a possibility of extension subject to availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• 87,180.00/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
