Job Description

Lead our brand new Early Years Place in Maryborough, driving a dedicated team to maximise their impact on the lives of children and families. This is a community based, rights-focused, integrated model of support for families, that connects children and caregivers to quality early learning, health, and family programming.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve – in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

A place to make a difference:

In this full time, permanent role, you’ll play a vital leadership role in our newly established Early Years Place. With programs delivered flexibly in the community, your role will focus on leading and developing our dedicated team. Reporting to our Regional Manager, you’ll be based in Maryborough.

You will make a difference by:

  • Leading and developing a passionate team, including providing their professional supervision
  • Proactively building connections with local services providers including primary, child and allied health, early childhood education and development programs, schools and other specialist supports.
  • Advocating for families through local networks and engagement with government agencies
  • Overseeing daily operations within the Early Years Place and ensuring that practice, compliance and child safeguarding standards are met
  • Ensuring compliance with service agreements, policies and procedures, and compiling relevant data to acquit reporting requirements

A place to feel valued:

You’re a passionate early childhood leader, who works from a strengths-based perspective and highly values the wellbeing of their staff. You’ll be happy to contribute to program design, while prioritising results and risk management. Importantly, you’ll keep the values of 54 reasons at the forefront of your work and will always seek excellence in the services we provide to our families.

Bringing your best every day means having:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading high-performing teams with a focus on performance, learning and team development
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate programming
  • Demonstrated experience in working with children and families in the early years space
  • Experience in building and maintaining key relationships with other service providers
  • Degree or Diploma in Early Childhood or another relevant field, or significant relevant experience

A place to belong:

54 reasons is proudly part of Save the Children Australia. We are a learning organisation that invests in the development and wellbeing of our people. Our workforce is approximately 1100 people strong, and proudly diverse, whether in race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexuality, cultures and beliefs.

It takes all types of people to do the challenging work we do. We are diverse personalities, backgrounds and talents, embracing our differences as one strong and united team. We see and celebrate the unique value you bring to our organisation, and offer a range of rewards for your effort, including:
