Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system and serves as an authoritative advocate for the global environment. The UN Environment Programme’s mandate is to coordinate the development of environmental policy consensus by keeping the global environment under review and bringing emerging issues to the attention of governments and the international community for action. UN Environment Programme’s Communications Division communicates UNEP’s core messages to all stakeholders and partners, raising environmental awareness and enhancing the profile of UNEP worldwide. Duties and Responsibilities This position is located in the Content & Client Services Section of the Communications Division. Under the direct supervision of the Head of Multimedia Unit, the Special Projects Multimedia Producer will perform the following duties: 1. Preproduction • Collaborate with UNEP’s communications team to develop the narrative structure and visual style for the series. • Plan and coordinate logistics for filming, including securing locations, permissions, and interview schedules. 2. Production • Film high-quality video and audio during interviews and field shoots. • Ensure representation of diverse voices and perspectives, including youth and community advocates. 3. Postproduction • Script and produce engaging video episodes tailored for various distribution platforms. • Manage the editing of the videos including motion graphics, subtitles, and UNEP branding in all outputs. 4. Team collaboration • Work closely with writers, designers, and social media strategists to align the video series with UNEP’s overarching campaigns and communication goals. 5. Content distribution • Collaborate with colleagues to disseminate the video series across UNEP platforms, partner networks, and media channels.
Qualifications/special skills
Master’s degree in journalism, media management, video production, communication, or related field is required. A first level university degree in combination with two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of a master’s degree. Minimum of seven years of experience in media management, video production, communication is required. Experience in photography, multimedia, journalism, filmmaking, and/or video production for high-quality platforms is required. Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and other Creative Suite software is required. Professional video and photographer camera(s) and audio recording equipment proficiency in post-production photo editing is desirable. Prior experience shooting video and still photography on DSLR cameras is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in written and spoken English is required.
