JOB DESCRIPTION

Organizational Setting

FAO Mongolia works with the vision “to be a leading, credible and responsive partner in ensuring food and nutrition security of the population”. The office has been coordinating projects and programmes in research, capacity building, natural resources management, technology transfer, food and agriculture policy, livestock production systems management, emergency and post crisis management, forestry information, statistics, food security and nutrition, emergency response operations, crop production system management, and food quality and safety.

Positions are available in Galt, Jargalant and Tumurbulag soum of Khuvsgul aimag.

 

Reporting Lines

The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Mongolia and the direct supervision the National Project Manager, and in close liaison with the project implementation unit in close liaison with all the staffs of the FAO Mongolia.

 

Technical Focus

The incumbent will be responsible for elaboration of following outcome:

•    Detailed work plans
•    Weekly reporting on the progress
•    Monthly reporting meeting to the partners
•    Successful local coordination and implementation on soum level

 

Tasks and responsibilities

•    Support National Project Manager and national and international specialists in planning and implementing all activities of the project;
•    Is responsible for timely planning and implementation of project activities in the soum;
•    Assist in research and studies by collecting primary and secondary data sets and existing materials;
•    Support the organization of project discussions, workshops, trainings, and field trips, especially on selected soum level;
•    Coordinate and communicate between the local stakeholders, and further develop local project partnership;
•    Perform daily tasks including documentation, reporting, scheduling, and other relevant tasks;
•    Support the design and tracking of progresses related to the Monitoring and Evaluation plan;
•    Help with communication and awareness raising efforts (social media, newsletter, TV campaigns, etc.)
•    Perform other duties requested by the project manager or FAOR;

Liaison with the OCC will be maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate review and clearance processes.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements    

•    Must be a national of the country of assignment with the ability to live and work consistently within the designated local area.
•    A university degree in agriculture, environment, or a closely related field is required.
•    Demonstrated minimum 5 years of experience in government, project management, or with international organizations is essential.
•    Working knowledge of English (level C)
