The UNDP West and Central Africa (WACA) Sub-Regional Hub in Dakar works with regional institutions and country offices to deliver on the six priorities of the governance and peacebuilding framework. Taking into consideration the regional context, the Governance and Peacebuilding Unit focuses particularly on prevention and early action and peacebuilding, inclusive transitions, youth empowerment, climate security, local governance, economic governance, security, and stabilization.
UNDP West and Central Africa (WACA) Sub-Regional Hub in Dakar is seeking the services of a Programme Manager to support the Governance and Peacebuilding Unit and Regional PVE team in its work on peacebuilding, and prevention in the WACA region, in order to deliver on UNDP corporate frameworks particularly the Crisis Offer, and the Prevention Offer as well as the Renewed Governance and Peacebuilding Framework for Africa 2022-2025.
Under the direct supervision of the Governance and Peacebuilding Team Leader and working in close collaboration with the Regional PVE team and, Regional Thematic Advisors, under the overall guidance of the Governance and Peacebuilding Coordinator, the Programme Manager will coordinate the development, manage implementation and develop a resource mobilization strategy for the Prevention Facility for the Gulf of Guinea, which includes Preventing and Responding to Violent Extremism in the Atlantic Corridor Project (referred to as Atlantic Corridor PVE Project). S/he will contribute to the development of policy and programme frameworks which can enable UNDP to scale up its contribution to peacebuilding and prevention in the WACA region with a particular focus on the Gulf of Guinea and the Sahel. S/he will provide technical support to the UNDP WACA Hub and the country offices in promoting sustainable peace and security within the region
a. Manage initiatives aiming at domesticating the UNDP prevention offer particularly the Prevention Facility for the Gulf of Guinea, which includes the implementation of the Atlantic Corridor PVE Project:

d. Advocacy and partner engagement for effective policy positioning and programme development in the region for the governance and peacebuilding pillar on prevention and early action:
The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Institutional Arrangement
The Programme Manager – Prevention Facility will report to the of the Governance and Peacebuilding Team Leader and he/she will work in close collaboration with the Regional PVE team and, regional thematic advisors.

Min. Academic Education | Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in International Relations, Political Science, International Development or other relevant field is required. Or a first-level university degree in the above-mentioned fields, with an additional two years of relevant experience, will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree. |
Min. years of relevant Work experience | Minimum of 5 years (with a master’s degree) or 7 years (with a bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience in project management and programming for conflict prevention and peacebuilding, with increasing level of responsibility is required |
Required skills and competencies | Experience in the use of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced knowledge of web-based management systems such as ERP is required. |
