Project Context and Scope
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) seeks to enhance its understanding and response to key narratives in Hebrew-speaking media and social media platforms. Monitoring both traditional and social media coverage is critical to assess public discourse, identify emerging trends, and evaluate topics of interest or concern that align with our mandate. Additionally, accurate and timely translations of key materials are essential to support decision-making and communication strategies effectively.
Organizational Department / Unit to which the Consultant is contributing
The Communications Team under the Head of Operations within IOM Gaza Response Team.
Tasks to be performed under this contract
- Provide timely, accurate, and insightful media monitoring reports from Hebrew-speaking media, translating key content into English.
- Deliver social media listening reports focused on Hebrew-language social media platforms, analyzing trends, sentiments, and relevant public discourse.
- Offer ad-hoc translation services from Hebrew to English for critical documents, articles, and other materials.
Performance indicators for the evaluation of results
- Preparation of Hebrew media monitoring reports in English: 8/month for 6 months (48 total)
- Preparation of social media listening reports: 4/month for 6 months (24 total)
- Hebrew-English translation: Maximum 3 documents /month for 6 months (TBD total).
Education
- Master’s degree in English or Hebrew language, Translation, Communications, Marketing or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience; or
- University degree in one of the above fields with five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience
- Proven experience in media monitoring, social media listening, analysis, and reporting, with specific expertise in Hebrew-speaking media and social media platforms and advantage.
- Access to relevant media outlets and experience using monitoring or analytic tools, such as but not limited to, Meltwater, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, etc.
- Experience working with international organizations, NGOs, or similar entities, is an advantage.
Skills
- Fluency in Hebrew and English, with demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality translations, summaries, and analyses.
- Familiarity with the regional media landscape, social media trends, and current events.
- Capacity to deliver accurate and timely outputs within set deadlines.
Languages
- Fluency in English and Hebrew is required (oral and written)
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Notes
- Any offer made to the candidate in relation to this vacancy notice is subject to funding confirmation.
- Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, verification of residency, visa, and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable. Vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for IOM personnel who are hired or otherwise engaged by IOM. As part of the mandatory medical entry on duty clearance, candidates may be requested to provide evidence of full vaccination. Consultants engaged to work on a home-based consultancy who do not need to travel do not need to provide vaccination records, regardless of the length of the consultancy contract.
- IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
- IOM does not charge a fee at any stage of its recruitment process (application, interview, processing, training or other fee). IOM does not request any information related to bank accounts.
- IOM only accepts duly completed applications submitted through the IOM online recruitment system. The online tool also allows candidates to track the status of their application.
