GIZ International Services (InS) is an integral division of GIZ. We offer the experience, the regional and technical know-how of GIZ in the global market and provide international clients with expertise in terms of economic and result-oriented services.
GIZ International Services is preparing a bid for an open tender for the “Bridging inequalities through greener municipalities” project in South Africa.
The project’s overarching objective is to contribute towards South Africa’s efforts in the reduction of inequalities and the achievement of the Government’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
Your tasks
The Key Expert 2 – Project Co-ordinator plays a pivotal role in the project, providing strategic leadership, managing multi-stakeholder collaboration, and ensuring the successful delivery of project objectives.
Your profile
Qualification and skills
- Educational Qualifications Required: Master degree in Project Management or similar. A post-gradual degree would be considered as an asset;
- Professional experience of minimum 5 years in the matters above, in addition to the general professional experience, may replace the Master degree;
- Proven knowledge of South Africa Local Government sector and Environmental Affairs legislations;
- Fluency in English.
General Professional experience
- A minimum of 12 years of General professional experience in local government / financial management / engineering / social science/ economics/ legal/ auditing/or related discipline;
Specific professional experience
- At least 10 years of experience
- At least 4 years’ experience in infrastructure planning, development, and financing;
- At least 3 years’ experience in environmental and climate change management;
- Experience in project management the private and/or public sector would be an asset.

Notes
The project’s tentative starting date is July 1st, 2025. The project will be implemented for a duration of 48 months. The expert will be working part-time (approximately 90%) for a total of 800 working days.
