Job Description

The CERN Document Server (CDS ) is CERN’s institutional repository, dedicated to archiving, preserving, and disseminating research outputs, multimedia content, and other key documents produced by the organization. We are building the next-generation web platform based on the open-source technology InvenioRDM, and as a Graduate, you will play a crucial role in shaping its future.

This role will include:

• Working as a full-stack software engineer as part of a team using Python and React.
• Contributing to developing new features, supporting the migration to the new platform, and ensuring a smooth transition.
• Designing, developing, testing, and deploying software, as well as engaging with users to understand their needs and refine the system accordingly.

Our ultimate goal is to create a seamless workflow for researchers, enabling them to archive, publish, and share research outputs, including software, data, and documents, more easily and efficiently. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on how CERN researchers manage and disseminate their work.

Nice to have skills:

• PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch
• Docker, OpenShift
• Experience working on open source projects

Eligibility criteria:

• You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
• By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Software engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
• Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
• Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
