JOB DESCRIPTION

Duties and Responsibilities
In particular, the intern will carry out the following tasks: – Assist the Rome Liaison Office team with its daily work related to visibility and advocacy activities. – Conduct internet research on thematic issues relevant to the UNICRI work programme. – Monitor inboxes of the Specialised Courses Programmes and Rome Office to respond to queries from students wishing to enrol in the specialized courses and from other stakeholders wishing to attend conferences and events promoted by the Rome Office. – Provide logistic support to in-person events hosted by the Rome Liaison Office. – Assist with planning and organization of in-person and online events, including researching speakers and preparing invitations and promotional material. – Maintain the databases for the Rome office visibility and advocacy events. In particular, the intern will be required to update the database related to both the Italian and global academic network with particular reference to Faculties related to UNICRI’s mandate. – Provide general office support (processing, drafting and finalizing correspondence and other communications; setting up and maintaining files/records; and organizing meetings). – Assist in researching innovations in meeting organizations, communications methods and training methodologies. – Produce communication and outreach products, including conceptual work and drafting for the website for social media purposes. – Support to other activities and projects, as requested.
Qualifications/special skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Preferable fields of study: communication, political sciences, psychology, marketing, journalism or other related fields. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work. experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Fluency in Italian is desirable. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
