JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Main tasks

Under the supervision of the Procurement and Logistics Manager, the intern will learn alongside the Procurement Unit team how to strengthen connectivity between UNICEF contractors/partners. They will provide analytical support, gather supplier performance data, and conduct market research to better understand how to strategically procure goods and services. During their assignment at UNICEF, they will learn to work virtually with a global team and develop stronger relationships and influencing, business, and financial analysis skills.

How can you make a difference?

The intern will be required to perform the specific tasks below:

  • Assist in the management of logistics operations, including receiving, warehousing, transportation and distribution
  • Track announced shipments/pre-alerts
  • Maintain proper filing of logistics documents including shipments/pre-alerts and distribution plans
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation to facilitate transit and customs clearance operations and liaise with the transit agent and ensure timely availability of documentation.
  • Check all invoices for transit services
  • Submit the invoice package for certification and payment
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Transit Agent
  • Any other tasks requested by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate degree (Bachelor’s degree) in business administration, transport & logistics and/or purchasing and supply management at a university or college recognized by the United Nations System;
  • Have achieved good academic performance over the past two years;
  • Good communication and organizational skills;
  • High sense of curiosity and taste for learning;
  • Computer skills (office automation);
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams;
  • Have mastery of French and basic knowledge of English;
  • Experience working or volunteering with youth organizations in youth programs or youth engagement is an added advantage.

Technical knowledge and skills:

  • Have good summary skills and excellent writing skills
  • Master Word, PowerPoint and Excel

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in French (spoken and written)
  • A good knowledge of English is required
