Area of ​​activity

 

The “Sustainable Financing for Development” sector project advises the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) on the implementation of the “Addis Ababa Action Agenda” (AAAA) and supports the multilateral Financing for Development (FfD) process in its numerous sub-themes at various levels (United Nations, EU, OECD, G20, etc.). The project’s activities primarily focus on three areas of action: 1) International positioning in the policy field of international sustainable development financing, 2) Partnerships and networks, and 3) Analysis and trend monitoring. The preparation and follow-up of the 4th International Financing for Development Conference, which will take place at the end of June 2025, as well as advice on the implementation of a new financing agenda, will guide the work of the sector project in the coming months.

 

Your tasks

 

  • Support in providing strategic, development policy and technical advice to the BMZ
  • Research and analysis on current issues and challenges in sustainable development financing, e.g. reform of the international financial architecture, private sector mobilization.
  • Following international expert discussions, trend and environmental monitoring on topics of sustainable development financing, in particular the impact of multiple crises and geopolitical changes.
  • Support in the negotiations on the final document of the 4th FfD Conference.
  • Support in the evaluation of the final document of the 4th FfD Conference and conceptual collaboration for the implementation of a new financing agenda.
  • Content and logistical preparation of internal and external events, including the preparation of minutes.
  • Administrative and organizational support for the sector project, particularly in the preparation of the 4th FfD Conference.

 

Your profile

 

  • At least a completed Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area (e.g. economics, finance, political science or administrative science); ideally, you are currently studying for a Master’s degree or have just completed your Master’s degree
  • Expertise in development finance, macroeconomics, fiscal policy, financial system development and/or sectoral finance is desirable
  • Very good skills in writing and editing texts in various political and multilateral contexts (publications, speeches, background information)
  • Initial practical work experience is an advantage
  • Very good analytical skills as well as strong communication and organizational skills and the ability and enjoyment of working independently
  • Motivation, teamwork skills and the ability to quickly familiarise yourself with new topics
  • Experience and knowledge of institutional actors and processes of sustainable development financing, including UN processes and negotiations, is an advantage
  • Interest in multilateralism and international politics is an advantage
  • Fluent German and English skills. Knowledge of another foreign language is an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of common MS Office programs
