Area of ​​activity

 

The Asia I Regional Department, located at headquarters in Eschborn, serves as the interface between German and international clients and projects in partner countries (e.g., Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, ASEAN, the Pacific, and China). It also advises clients on development policy issues and portfolio development and is responsible for all projects within the department.

On behalf of several German ministries, GIZ has been working with China and relevant Chinese government institutions at the national and subnational levels for several years on various projects to promote an environmentally and climate-friendly transformation of the transport sector. The cooperation projects focus in particular on:

  • the political and scientific dialogue on climate-friendly, sustainable transport,
  • the commissioning and support of scientific studies,
  • the development, pilot implementation and evaluation of technical and non-technical measures in passenger and freight transport,
  • the planning, organization and implementation of workshops and events,
  • supporting the dialogue between municipalities (Germany-China) regarding integrated and climate-friendly urban mobility planning.

 

Your tasks

 

As an intern in both the Asia I Regional Department and the “Sustainable Mobility” team, you will support the department and projects in the transport sector aimed at environmentally and climate-friendly mobility and promoting German-Chinese dialogue in this area. You can expect an interesting field of activity in which you can visibly contribute to changes and the sustainable development of the transport sector.

  • They support the maintenance of national and international networks and help with the preparation and implementation of workshops and events,
  • They support the various projects in researching and preparing relevant information for the commissioning ministries,
  • They help to design the external presentation and support the communication (website, blog, …) of the various projects,
  • They support the advice of political actors at national and subnational level on climate protection in passenger and freight transport and accompany the project activities,
  • At the interface between transport and urban development, you will provide advice on the implementation of integrated urban mobility concepts,
  • Within the framework of the projects, they promote political dialogue on climate-friendly transport between Germany and China.
  • You will support the department’s country management in the project cycle of preparation, implementation and completion of TC projects
  • You support in the creation of presentations, status reports and documentation
  • Research and analysis of selected topics
  • Participation in internal meetings and strategic discussions
    with clients (preparation of minutes)
  • In addition, during your internship you will have the opportunity to participate in internal and external company events

 

Your profile

 

  • From the 5th semester onwards, you will study in the fields of economics, sinology, politics, law, or even in a technical (engineering) or urban planning course.
  • You have excellent written communication skills in German and English
  • You have very good analytical and organizational skills
  • You are characterized by high motivation and initiative and tackle where support is needed
  • You see yourself as a team player, resilient, structured, communicative and expressive
  • Experience in the field and operation of social media/external communication
  • You have good IT knowledge of common MS Office programs
  • Knowledge of other application software in the area of ​​communication and design is an advantage
  • Intercultural sensitivity and openness
  • Ideally, you have already gained practical experience in development cooperation
  • Knowledge of Chinese is an advantage but not a requirement
