Under the overall supervision of the Resident Representative and the direct supervision of the Deputy Country Representative of UN Women in Mali, the Coordination Assistant will assist the Deputy Resident Representative in coordinating gender-related actions within joint mechanisms of the United Nations System and provide support for the implementation of the UN Women mandate.
III. Key Functions and Accountabilities:
1. Prepare the participation of UN Women in the strategic planning of the UN:
Support the process of taking gender into account in strategic assessments and planning: UNSDCF, CCA, joint UN projects, etc.
Support the process of monitoring required actions/outstanding issues and reporting on results;
Alert management on critical issues to be addressed;
Support the development of the office’s Annual Work Plan and those of the joint UN mechanisms.
Support the functioning of inter-agency coordination mechanisms, including those with the TFPs chaired by UN Women
2. Provide administrative and technical support to inter-agency coordination:
Provide support during UN inter-agency planning processes and similar exercises.
Provide support in the preparation of background papers on such actions to be discussed at the UNCT and other events.
Provide support and participation in the preparation of background papers and analyses for UN Women management and country team on gender dynamics.
Provide support in the coordination of the UN System Gender Thematic Group (UN-GTG).
3. Support the Deputy Resident Representative in the development of strategic partnerships and resource mobilization efforts:
Support in the organization of activities and other promotional events to engage bilateral and multilateral institutions, donors, the private sector, and civil society to expand and sustain support for UN Women programs and joint UN system initiatives.
Prepare draft background documents and analyses for the Country Representative in collaboration with relevant Units and programs to forge and implement strategic partnerships to raise awareness of UN Women’s work in the country.
Support in coordinating UN system support to government events in Mali such as the Commission on the Status of Women, International Women’s Day, and the 16 Days of Activism Against GBV campaign.
4. Support the Deputy Resident Representative in matters of advocacy and communication at the Mali country office:
Support the team in advocacy and communications at the Mali country office
Support the Communications team in implementing advocacy campaigns on issues related to gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE), such as International Women’s Day, the HeforShe campaign and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence;
Participate in and contribute to policy dialogues on gender equality and women’s empowerment, as needed.
5. Facilitate knowledge sharing:
Provide support to the development and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned;
Support the process of integrating gender into program planning;
Support the process of contributing to capacity building exercises of colleagues and partners, if necessary.

V. Recruitment Qualifications
Education and Certification:
High School Diploma (or equivalent)
A first-level university degree in international development, public administration, public policy, or another relevant social science field is an asset.
Project/Program Management certification (such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP®) would be an added advantage.
Experience:
At least 5 years of experience supporting the inter-agency coordination and strategic program planning process.
Experience supporting program development, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting is required.
Experience working in developing countries within the United Nations system, agencies, funds, or programs is desirable.
Languages:
Fluent speaking and writing of French is required;
Speaking and writing of English or another language recognized by the United Nations system is an asset;
Speaking a local language of Mali is an asset.
