JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Summary:

As a member of the Regreening Africa project team, you will monitor and report on all project activities in support of Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.

Regreening Africa – Phase II builds on concrete and inexpensive tools and approaches to restore and regreen land developed under ‘Regreening Africa – Phase I’. The Action will further scale existing interventions and spread the successful approach across the Project interventions areas. Phase II will establish strong linkages and evidence-based scaling strategies for landscape restoration to enhance climate change resilience in both the countries and the region at large. This will include a broad dissemination of regreening as a climate adaptation and mitigation strategy, including assessing and understanding the potential of regreening to sequester carbon.

This position will report to the Program Director for Agriculture, Livelihoods and Landscapes and will be based in Yendi, Northern Region, with frequent travels to Project communities in Yendi and the Mion District

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) to prepare reports per established reporting schedule.
Collect information on staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and report on promising practices.
Ensure project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with preparation of annual reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, environmental science, development studies or social sciences required. Master’s degree in agriculture (Economics, Extension, Agribusiness), Statistics or in the social sciences would be a plus.

Minimum of 5 years of work experience in project support, ideally in the field of Agriculture, Climate change projects in NGO settings.

Additional experience may substitute for some education.

Required Languages – Proficient in English Language. Other local languages of the project localities such as Dagbani, Likpakpaln, Twi and/or Bassari is preferred.

Travel – Must be willing and able to travel up to 25% of her/his time.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
