Job description

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) is a program for violence prevention and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. The CPS program in the Palestinian Territories supports civil society organizations that create safe spaces for young Palestinians, where they can experience appreciation, positive group interactions, and self-determination. Psychosocial support is to be integrated as an effective approach to conflict transformation in Palestine. CPS advises various institutions on how to provide qualified psychosocial support to young people, aiming to holistically support their psychosocial development.

Your tasks

Further development and contextualization of conflict- and culturally sensitive psychosocial counseling concepts for the CPS team and its partners
Conceptual development and facilitation of training sessions for the CPS team and its partners on psychosocial care and trauma-informed approaches in social work and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) interventions
Conceptual design and provision of regular supervision sessions (peer reflection and case supervision) for the CPS team through external consultants
Advising the CPS team and partner organizations in identifying and assessing the psychosocial needs of youth and children
Cooperation with CPS team members and partners in the area of project monitoring and evaluation related to psychosocial work
Collaboration with CPS team members and partners in further developing the nexus between Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MH&PSS) and conflict transformation
Serving as the focal point and central contact person in the GIZ Palestine MHPSS Task Force, responsible for mainstreaming MHPSS across programs, promoting synergies, capacity building, and knowledge management to improve advisory services for partners
Documentation of work processes, participation in knowledge exchange, and collaboration with colleagues within GIZ’s CPS and the CPS Consortium

Your profile

Completed university degree in psychology, social pedagogy, or a social-psychological field with a focus on psychosocial support
Several years of professional experience in psychosocial work, including experience in case supervision
Experience in designing workshops and training programs in applied psychosocial methods, particularly with a focus on children and youth
Strong analytical, self-reflection, and decision-making skills; willingness to work in a large, intercultural team
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Tolerance for frustration
Fluent in English (spoken and written); German and Arabic language skills are an asset
