In a more specific way, the purpose of the position of technical assistant accommodation and infrastructure (AEI) / Wash (from English for water, sanitation and hygiene) is to support the technical activities of the projects that have the purpose that the affected people have access to adequate temporary, transitional and permanent accommodation solutions
Specific responsibilities[AB1]
Provide AEI and Wash services efficiently and timely, according to program orientations and sector standards.
Promote the participation of people, homes and communities within the framework of emergency assists and in support of durable solutions from CB and all phases of projects, as part of safe programming.
Perform needs evaluations, which include technical analysis of the sector (with special mention on the conditions of overcrowding, physical space security, health, protection of weather conditions, security of tenure and dignity, and with special mention for the Wash sector CAP surveys on knowledge, attitudes and practices; measurement of quantity and quality of water; excreta management systems and possible pollution of water sources)Information collection, for example, through the preparation of reports for the prioritization of attention and response strategy, population selection with greater needs and interest for NRC as part of safe programming.
Make use of communication, education and information (IEC) materials on housing and infrastructure issues (adequate housing, healthy housing, good use and maintenance of kits and infrastructure delivered, minimum standards in temporary accommodations, etc.) and Wash themes (infections prevention, hand washing, management and consumption of safe water, good use and maintenance of Wash facilities, etc.and are based not so much on the acquisition of knowledge, but on the promotion of positive, safe and healthy behavioral changes.
Facilitate information and awareness sessions, as well as workshops or training processes in coordination with the planning of AEI and Wash programs, other CB, communities and humanitarian actors.
Incorporate WASH architectural designs and facilities to the different sociocultural and ethnic contexts, specific needs by age, gender and disability, geographical, climatic conditions and those that mitigate negative environmental impacts as part of the designs to be performed.
Specific technical responsibility for the basic competences for monitoring the financial expenses of the technical activities of the project (s).Perform the budgets broken down both in “product” activities (constructions or delivery of non -food items) through the development of work quantities (APU’s) and technical specifications, as well as those of “processes” (promotion of participation, IEC materials, information sessions, sensitization and training, among others), in coordination with the activities of the rest of the programs in the intervention zone.
Make the request for materials and supplies necessary to the logistics area in the stipulated times and receive them on the work site, in coordination, in an informed and under the approval of the community or other key actors.
Perform quality control and monitoring of work (weekly, unless the indication from the supervisor person), provides technical support to the associates and / or contractors, as well as support the monitoring of the subcontractations and studies required in the development of the projects.
Distribute non -food items in the AEI sector (habitat kits, coat, endowments or school furniture) and Wash sector (hygiene kits, menstrual hygiene kit or dignity, water treatment kit, water management kit and sanitation kit), contributions (materials or temporary accommodation kits) and monetary transfers or cups of the sectors of the sectors of the sectors of the sectorsAEI and WASH.

Ensure the development of logistics, administrative and security procedures that are required for the development of the activities under their established times.
In coordination with the supervisor, accompany when institutional or humanitarian coordination spaces are required.
Facilitate the necessary information to complete the beneficiary database, matrices that consolidate the progress in goals of internal indicators and by project and/or information management system on the population served, services and products delivered by NRC.
Participate in the Routines of the PCM (of its acronym in English for the management of the project cycle) of NRC and the AEI and Wash programs.

Minimum work experience of one (1) year as technical assistant in humanitarian aid contexts.
Knowledge and experience within the technical field and ideally a relevant professional qualification.

Last semester, newly graduated or professional architecture, engineering, or career related to the scope of temporary accommodations, habitat, school or community infrastructure, promotion of hygiene, sanitation and water.
Minimum professional experience of one (1) year in the implementation of housing projects, educational facilities or community infrastructure, water projects, sanitation and promotion of hygiene.
Minimum professional experience of one (1) year at work with government entities of the National/Territorial Order, United Nations System Agencies, Red Cross movement or other humanitarian organizations on issues related to accommodations and infrastructure (Shelter & Settlement) and in issues related to Wash (water, sanitation and hygiene) in emergency contexts.
Knowledge in national and international regulations for humanitarian action, territorial planning, infrastructure or construction, health and Wash.
Knowledge of participatory methodologies for the execution of accommodation and infrastructure projects with communities and about techniques for the management, storage and treatment of water (batches and at the community level), emergency sanitation systems and installation of handwashed points, participatory methodologies for the promotion of hygiene and the execution of Wash projects, CAP tools and methodologies on change of behavior.
Work skills in multicultural contexts, people from different countries, regions and territories, with Afro communities, peasants and indigenous people.
Knowledge in traditional, local or bioconstruction techniques.
Experience proven in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) and experience in the handling of CAD software (for example, Autocad).
