Context

The UNICEF Eswatini Country Office (ECO) is seeking an online volunteer to provide editorial and layout design support for a series of technical and policy papers focused on social policy and programme effectiveness. These papers address key areas such as child poverty, disability inclusion, and social protection. The volunteers’ contributions will be instrumental in improving the clarity, consistency, and visual presentation of these critical documents, ensuring they meet UNICEF’s high standards for professional and impactful communication. Eswatini faces significant development challenges, including high levels of poverty and inequality. In response, UNICEF Eswatini works closely with government and partners to strengthen the national social policy framework through evidence based, well-articulated policy and technical documents. These documents are key tools for influencing reforms in social protection, public finance, and social service delivery effectiveness. The volunteers’ support will directly strengthen UNICEF’s capacity to deliver high-quality, policy-relevant outputs that inform strategic decision-making and promote inclusive, sustainable development.

Task Description

Under the supervision of the Social Policy Specialist (with the support from the Programme, Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist), the online volunteer is expected to support the following tasks: • Proofreading and editing technical and policy documents to ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity, and consistency in line with UNICEF’s editorial style and formatting guidelines; • Collaborating with the team to refine document structure, enhance content flow, and ensure alignment with strategic objectives and policy relevance; • Supporting layout and formatting adjustments to improve the documents’ readability, accessibility, and visual appeal across multiple formats; • Providing feedback and recommendations for enhancing content presentation, drawing on best practices in policy communication and technical writing.
