Your responsibilities

As part of the Site and Civil Engineering (SCE) Department, theSite Asset Management (SAM) Groupis responsible for planning, designing, and executing maintenance and operational activities for the site infrastructure. The group also supports construction projects carried out by internal teams and service providers under ongoing contracts.

In the context of the preparation for the next Long Shutdown (LS3), the installation of temporary life bases (modular huts) is required at various locations across the CERN site. These facilities will be used by CERN personnel, contractors, and external companies.

As a Junior Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising small-scale civil engineering projects related to the installation of modular cabins and associated minor works (e.g. concrete slabs, trenches, utility connections).

Your responsibilities will include:

Managing the full lifecycle of each project, from contract management with modular hut suppliers to on-site supervision.
Following up on installation activities and ensuring alignment with schedule and safety standards.
Coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders.
Ensuring technical compliance and reporting progress.

You will be integrated into a small, supportive team within the SAM group, and work under the guidance of experienced civil engineering technicians and site supervisors.

You will also collaborate closely with the Civil Engineering Design and Geomatics teams, offering a dynamic and multidisciplinary working environment.

Your profile

Skills:

Project coordination and planning.
Small civil engineering work supervision.
Communication skills.
CAD Design software.
Spoken and written both English and French.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of aCERN Member or Associate Member State.
By the application deadline,you have amaximum of two years of professional experience since graduationin Mechanical or Civil engineering (or a related field)andyour highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
Applicants without University degree are not eligible.
Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Additional Information

Job closing date:26.06.2025at23:59 CEST.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

Working hours: 40 hours per week

Target start date: 01-September-2025
