JOB DESCRIPTION

Result of Service
To develop a user-friendly, inclusive, and secure digital tool that provides guidance on human rights and enables community-based monitoring and reporting by youth and youth-led organizations on digital rights.

Duties and Responsibilities
The Consultant will engage Ministry of Justice, Liberia Telecommunications Authority, The Ministry of Youth and Sports, legal practitioners, LAGSoL, students, civil society organizations (CSOs) including LNBA, youth groups-Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY), Liberia National Student Union (LINSU), Mano River Youth Network and other stakeholders including through interactive workshops/training, awareness raising and sensitization to ensure practical understanding and application of digital rights in Montserrado and Lofa Counties.

Qualifications/special skills
Postgraduate or other advanced university degree (at least Master or equivalent) in Law, International Development, International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, Institutional/Organizational Development, Social Sciences or any other relevant discipline. At least 7 years of experience in legal research, policy development, and human rights law. Proven experience in drafting legislation, conducting legal reviews, drafting human rights monitoring tools and stakeholder engagement. Strong facilitation, training, and capacity-building skills. Excellent communication and report-writing skills The ability to gain others’ support for ideas, proposals and solutions and get others to take action to advance work objectives; maintain high ethical/ professional standards and integrity.

Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
