Job Description:

This position was created to coordinate a World Vision project focused on reducing gender base violence and abuse in the identified communities in Malaita. The position will guide the implementation of the Gender Equality Project. The scope of the project includes working with churches and communities to change the attitudes and behaviors towards women and men. It will also improve access to the justice system and support systems to address gender-based violence cases.

This position will coordinate team members and support them to implement project and report on results. The Project Coordinator is also responsible for building networks and capacity of other partners and stakeholders in order to ensure sustainability of programme impact.

This role will report to and actively support the Gender Sector Portfolio Manager. The position is based in Auki, Malaita and would be expected to spend around 75% of the time in the targeted communities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively manage the implementation of the project to achieve its outcomes and goal
  • Provide technical support to the Facilitators (Community based)
  • Implementation of the program activities
  • Strengthen partner engagement and ownership
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of the program

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE:

  • 3 years relevant work experience, working on community development projects in the field
  • Experience working with gender programming including hands on operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma
  • Strong command of report writing in English
  • High networking and diplomacy skills.
  • Good knowledge of community development – i.e. working on projects in communities.
  • Knowledge of Gender and family and sexual violence
  • Strong knowledge in computer applications including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • High level of organizational and management skills
  • Must be a team builder committed to the transfer of knowledge
  • Good training and facilitation skills
  • Ability and willingness to learn and apply new knowledge and skills
  • Willing to travel around the province and visit / stay in communities (up to 75% of time).
