UNICEF in the State of Palestine works to uphold the rights of children to access services and protection, from early childhood through to adolescence. Our objective is to ensure that every child in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, irrespective of background or circumstance, has an equal chance to fulfil their potential.

UNICEF operates in a complex humanitarian and development setting, where timely delivery of supplies and services is critical to program success. The logistics function plays a key role of ensuring that operational and programmatic needs are met effectively, efficiently, and sustainably.
The UNV Logistics Associate will be part of the logistics team and will support coordination implementations of supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities

The UNV Logistics Associate will perform the following tasks:

– Data entry for COGAT approvals on UN 2720 Portal, coordinates with all stakeholders to get all required documents, maintain records for all the documents and applications records, closed follow up until receiving the required approvals and share them with concerned departments.
– Assist in collecting and analysing relevant technical data from diverse sources to forecast supply chain operational needs under various scenarios and make evidence-based proposals.
– Participate in strengthening the efficiency of supply chain actors in commodity management, including handling, storage, packaging, transportation, cold chains, commodity tracking, and compliance with the regulatory authorities’ requirements.
– Assist in the tracking and monitoring of delivery status of local Purchase Orders (POs) in coordination with Procurement team to plan the receipts of goods into the Warehouses and transportation to the beneficiary locations.
– Submit regular reports for a continuous overview of supply chain operations including inventory stock quantity/values, incoming goods, warehouse stocks and distribution.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum three years of progressively responsible professional work experience in supply chain and data entry management or relevant field within inter-government organizations (preferably UN system/INGO) is highly desirable.
• Strong typing skills (both speed and accuracy),
• Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment.
• Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills.
• Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
• Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and with a range of partners;
• Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
• Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
• Sound security awareness;

Living Conditions

An initial 6 months contract with subsequent contract extensions subject to availability of funding, operational necessity and satisfactory performance. However, there is no expectation of renewal of the assignment.
A Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) of ILS ILS 6730 is provided monthly to cover housing, utilities and normal cost of living expenses. Life, health and permanent disability insurance are included (health insurance for up to 3 dependents), as well as final repatriation (if applicable) and resettlement allowance for satisfactory service.
