IOM, UN Migration Agency in Athens, Greece is looking for a Senior Movement Operations Manager who will be responsible and accountable for the negotiations and management of the Organization’s global airline and travel systems agreements with major airline and other travel industry providers to implement air movement operations.
1. Negotiate and oversee all air transport related agreements on behalf of IOM in close coordination with the Head, RMM. Coordinate endorsement of global agreements with the Director, DMPI.
2. Identify and analyse strategic areas and opportunities related to effective movement management and keep abreast of the latest developments in products and services of the travel industry to support RMM and DMPI priorities and efficient movements as a component of all regular pathways.
3. Maintain regular and productive communication with travel industry partners for the purpose of understanding business and operational challenges, ensuring comprehensive air fare accessibility and facilitating cost effective and strategically sound transportation arrangements, including creating contingencies in case of crisis situations that impact the travel industry at large (such as global pandemics or any other force majeur disruption).
4. Develop an annual business plan outlining air transport utilization and performance against benchmarks and targets in coordination with respective units under the Movement Operations unit in RMM HQ in close coordination with the Head, RMM. Plan and effectively implement the promisorry notes calculations and monitoring exercises.
5. Oversee the global AMADEUS and Airplus contracts and establish capacity building initiatives for RMM staff to ensure efficient usage and system features reflecting the operational needs and strategic priorities of RMM.
6. Supervise and support the Movement operations, Staff Travel, the RMM Data and System GMSS Units (whether based in Geneva, Valencia or in MAC). Provide expert advice to resettlement and movement managers in the field related to contribute to solving problems and effective movements.
7. Provide expert guidance on the movement management in crisis settings and participate in coordination mechanism lead by DHRR in close coordination with the Head, RMM.
8. Ensure IOM is up-to date in the use of technology, tools and process design to streamline operational, administrative activities/processes, including servingas the subjectmatter expert for the development and maintenance of IOM’s proprietary movement management tools (i.e. iGATOR, MiMOSA and Amadeus). Keep abreast of technical innovations of the travel industry and then plan, direct and monitor the introduction of changes or application of new systems and plans for related staff trainings.
9. Devise a comprehensive plan with the RMM Senior Statistics and Information Manager on Data Integrity and reporting priorities within RMM and contribute to key initiatives within the data integrity community of practice as Subject Matter Expert (SME).
10. Oversee the usage of the RMM Mileage Fund, the fund of the Humanitarian Assistance for Stranded Migrants (HASM) and similar frameworks, as well as self-payer movements. Devise plans on how RMM can further leverage its funds, mechanisms and travel industry partnerships to support regular pathways and create innovative ways to assist migrants on the move.
11. Establish and maintain a dedicated level of coordination and cooperation with Private Sector actors, UN bodies and International Organizations (ICAO, IATA) and related coordination mechanisms with regards to travel and dimensions of air mobility (UN humanitarian Hub, UNHAS, IATN).
12. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

IOM”s official languages are English, French and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position fluency in English is required (Oral and Written). Working knowledge of an official UN Language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is an advantage.
