The internship is UNPAID and interns work five days per week (full time – 40 hours). The United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) provides technical assistance related to combating terrorism, organized crime, corruption and drugs to requesting Member States. This assistance also supports States Strengthening criminal justice and health systems and to ratify and successfully implement international conventions and protocols, in compliance with the rule of law and human rights.The UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific’s (ROSEAP) Regional Programme outlines the proposed scope and focus of UNODC”s work in the region for the years to come. It provides a framework for delivering a coherent programme of work to: (i) give clear focus to supporting Member States and regional partners in achieving priority crime and drug outcomes; and (ii) increase the responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of UNODC”s support to the region. The Regional Promgramme focuses primarily on crime and drug challenges that are best addressed through coordinated cross-border and intra-regional cooperation. There are five sub programmes under the Regional Programme which are Transnational Organised Crime, Anti-Corruption, Terrorism Prevention, Criminal justice systems, and Drugs and Health, and Alternative Development. For more information on UNODC, please visit the following website: https://www.unodc.org/roseap/ The Intern will be reporting to the Associate Expert and to the Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer of the Programme Development Team, UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The purpose of the internship is to support updating Office’s resource mobilization and partners’ engagement strategy by providing research-based intelligence, drafting partnership materials, and assisting in communications and engagement activities with key partners in East Asia, Southeast Asia and the Pacific. The intern will directly contribute to, and work under the supervision of, the Programme Development Team of the UNODC Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, located in Bangkok, Thailand by: 1) conducting research and mapping existing and potential partners’ strategies, policies and priorities in international assistance and security-related areas, including relevant statistics and data, in line with UNODC’s mandates in the region; 2) supporting in developing a digital database to capture, monitor and regularly update partners strategies, policies, priorities, and other relevant statistics and data, with relevance to UNODC’s mandate and the region; 3) preparing briefings for the Office relevant to partners engagement and assisting in organizing relevant engagement initiatives in the region; 4) conducting research on key trends and threats in relation to non-traditional security threats in East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific for the development of project proposals and concept notes; 5) supporting the drafting of project proposals and concept notes to support Member States in the region in addressing non-traditional security threats in line with UNODC’s mandates; 6) other tasks as required.
