JOB DESCRIPTION

Organization Mission

UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, works to achieve three transformative results:

• Ending unmet need for family planning,

• Ending preventable maternal deaths, and

• Ending gender-based violence and harmful practices.

In 2025, UNFPA Tunisia marks 51 years of partnership and programming in the country. Over the decades, the programme has evolved and expanded in scope and ambition, supporting national efforts to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), respond to gender-based violence (GBV), empower adolescents and youth, and strengthen the use of data and evidence for policy and planning.

As the office prepares for a new programme cycle, UNFPA Tunisia is committed to deepening its impact through inclusive, sustainable, and innovative approaches—working hand-in-hand with national and local stakeholders, civil society, youth networks, and development partners.

Context

This volunteer assignment is supported by the Swiss Embassy in Tunisia as part of an initiative in partnership with the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program to enhance youth inclusion, with a focus on the inclusion of young people with disabilities (2024-2026). Therefore, applications from young people with disabilities who meet the required qualifications are strongly encouraged.

This UNV assignment directly contributes to UNFPA Tunisia’s strategic shift towards sustainability and innovation. By supporting the diversification of partnerships and the exploration of non-traditional financing modalities (such as CSR engagement, investment cases, and private sector outreach), the position strengthens the office’s ability to mobilize resources and build resilient alliances that amplify UNFPA’s transformative agenda in Tunisia.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the head of office, and youth programme consultant, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

1. Help identify potential new partners (such as private companies, local groups, or re-gional platforms) by doing research and creating simple partner profiles.
2. Support the writing and design of short documents (like presentation slides, concept notes, or brochures) to explain UNFPA’s work and why partnerships matter.
3. Assist in preparing short investment cases or success stories to show how UNFPA’s programs make a difference and how they could attract financial or strategic support.
4. Help organize meetings and small events with current or potential partners (e.g., send-ing invitations, preparing agendas, taking notes, and following up).
5. Support outreach to the private sector, especially companies interested in social re-sponsibility or youth and women’s empowerment.
6. Keep track of key partnership data, like contact lists, meeting outcomes, and project follow-up, using basic tools such as Excel or shared folders.
7. Do basic research on trends, like how other countries or UN agencies work with the private sector or raise new types of funding.
8. Work closely with other teams at UNFPA to make sure messages to partners are clear and consistent.

Required Skills and Experience

• Supporting partnerships or fundraising activities.
• Working with private companies, youth groups, or civil society.
• Helping with research, presentations, or reports about investments, donors, or social projects.
• Good ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and speaking.
• Comfortable working with data and reports to help with decision-making.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team, in a busy and multicultural setting.
• Motivated, creative, and interested in new ways to raise funds or build partnerships.
• Basic knowledge of social impact, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), or how the private sector can support development is a plus.
• Experience or familiarity with the UN system.
