JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an Associate Systems Engineer for a regular position to work within the IT Department at the International Vaccine Institute in Seoul, Korea. (Duty station: Seoul, Korea)

Job Description

This job is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, security, and reliability of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This role supports end-users, manages systems and networks, and maintains both physical and virtual server environments to ensure optimal performance and availability.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Server & System Maintenance

Provide expert-level technical assistance on the daily server health checks, including patch management, backups, and OS updates on Windows systems.
Maintain and update server systems, including operating systems and security patches.
Monitor system performance metrics and logs, identify basic issues, and apply standard remediation steps.
Troubleshoot routine hardware and software problems; escalate more complex issues to senior engineers.
Develop and implement support procedures, best practices, and training materials for end-users
Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, standard operating procedures, and daily maintenance activities and incident resolutions

2. Account Management & Client Support

Provision and deprovision user accounts in Active Directory, including group memberships and permission assignments.
Support desktop and laptop setup—installing operating systems, required applications, and ensuring connectivity.
Resolve common end-user system issues such as login failures, software errors, and peripheral setup.
Provide IT training to users including on boarding session

3. IT Procurement

IT device purchase, asset registration, monthly payment, etc.
Evaluate vendor proposals, negotiate pricing, and manage supplier relationships to optimize costs and quality
Track inventory levels, manage asset lifecycles, and prepare periodic procurement reports

4. Backup & Disaster Recovery Support

Execute and verify scheduled backups; assist in routine restore tests to confirm data integrity.
Support disaster-recovery planning by updating recovery procedures and participating in drill exercises.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

1. Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (Computer Science or related field)

2. Related Field Work Experience

2 ~ 3 + years

3. Technical and Professional Skills / Knowledge

Knowledge in Windows & Other Operating Systems and Client software such MS-Office, MS Project, other client software.
Experience in Server & Network Administration, Knowledge of Networking equipment and protocols.
Certification in Microsoft/ Cisco products.
