The United Nations Commission on International Trade Law is the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of international trade law. A legal body with universal membership specializing in commercial law reform worldwide for over 50 years, UNCITRAL”s business is the modernization and harmonization of rules on international business.
In 2024, UNCITRAL has developed a curriculum for training judges on the basis of the UNCITRAL cross-border insolvency framework covering a) the UNCITRAL Model Laws on Enterprise Group Insolvency, on Recognition and Enforcement of Insolvency-related Judgments and on Cross-border insolvency, b) Guides to Enactment and Interpretation, c) Legislative Guides and c) cases studies.
The training material for this curriculum is currently available on English and Spanish. The translation into Portuguese will allow judges and stakeholders in lusophone countries to have access to this information
This training is free of charge and designated for judges, judges” assistance, insolvency experts or for anyone interested in international trade law and UNCITRAL”s work. The importance of training in terms of outreach and capacity-building purposes, in accordance with UNCITRAL”s mandate, has been highlighted by the UNCITRAL Commission.
The assignment will help provide the translation support needed to finalize the translation of the training in November 2025.
Candidates should be native in Portuguese and fluent in Spanish/English. Familiarity with technical terms related to insolvency will be considered an advantage. Previous translation experience is considered as an asset.
