The Finance Manager will support the Maryland/DC and West Virginia Business Units in a wide range of financial services, including financial management, reporting and analysis, and general financial data maintenance. They will analyze information to achieve results, solve complex problems, and serve as a strategic partner in advising how to best to manage and invest our resources towards our conservation objectives and collaborate with the Development team to manage funding priorities.
The Finance Manager is responsible for managing Maryland/DC and West Virginia finances, including effective strategic financial planning, reporting, and communicating results and plans. They manage the full budget life cycle of the Business Units which includes leading the development of the annual budget, forecasting future financials, and leading efficient and clean year-end closing. They work with budget managers across their and other Conservancy Business Units to ensure we are on track to meet budget throughout the year they provide variance analysis summaries to executive management, elevating risks and opportunities as appropriate; and they oversee the documentation of assumptions.
The Finance Manager is also responsible for financial compliance with TNC policies and procedures, legal standards, and regulatory requirements by reviewing and monitoring accuracy of financial documents and entering transactions in the system as needed. They drive corrective measures and consistency with corporate policies. This is a full time, hybrid position. Ideal location is in the Maryland, DC, Northern Virginia area (with as-needed travel to the Maryland/DC and West Virginia office) though remote candidates, with regular travel to Maryland/DC area and West Virginia, may be considered.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $90,100 – $125,000. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate’s location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Please note countries outside the USA would have a different pay range in the local currency based on the local labor market, and not tied to USA pay or ranges. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
