WE ARE
The Publications Office of the European Union is the official provider of publishing services to all EU institutions, bodies, and agencies. As such, it is the central point of access to EU law, and also to publications, data, research results, procurement notices and other official information. The Publications Office therefore plays a central role in informing the public about what the EU does and means for them, and in unlocking the power of data.
Its mission is to support EU policies as a centre of excellence for data, information and knowledge management, and to ensure that this broad range of information is available to the public as accessible and reusable data to facilitate transparency, economic activity and the diffusion of knowledge.
The Publications Office publishes in all the official languages of the European Union and continuously adapts its services to a rapidly evolving technological environment (e.g. data services, cloud computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence).
Unit A.5 ‘Portal and Web Services’ is responsible for the Publications Office’s digital dissemination platform providing access to information published by the EU institutions, agencies and bodies. Its mission is to deliver an efficient and secure suite of online services designed for seamless digital dissemination. The unit oversees the management and evolution of the EU Whoiswho, and operates the Publications Office’s web analytics service, a critical tool for monitoring digital service usage and enhancing user experience across websites managed by the Publications Office. Beyond operational responsibilities, the unit serves as an advisory hub at the Publications Office for web standards and technologies, offering expertise in areas such as search engine optimisation, web accessibility, and cookie management. The unit represents the Publications Office in inter- institutional committees and professional networks, fostering collaboration and innovation in the development of EU websites and web-related technologies.
WE PROPOSE
The job holder will be responsible, as part of a wider team, for the good functioning of the Publications Office digital dissemination platform (OP Portal) ) & Al development activities as well as internal communication and collaboration on future evolutions of other Publications Office web sites.
The position involves overseeing the efficient technical management and coordination of the OP Portal. Responsibilities include planning and managing activities aligned with the unit’s work program, ensuring effective collaboration with internal teams, and drafting functional and nonfunctional business requirements. The role requires guiding project activities, coordinating development and testing tasks and conducting quality control and data auditing to ensure the OP Portal functions optimally. The role also involves overseeing project timelines, estimating resources and managing risks while ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. The position requires regular communication with stakeholders and colleagues within the Directorate-General, within other European institutions and with external contractors.
The position includes procurement and contract management, assisting in launching and monitoring tenders, managing project performance, and ensuring the proper implementation of systems. Effective communication and collaboration across various units and services within OP and more widely the European Commission are key components of the role, along with representing our unit in presentations, as well as staying informed about technological advancements.

The successful candidate may also be called to contribute to the activity of other sectors in the Unit and the Directorate as well as horizontal project team.
Experience in working with digital services, Al based services or having operated delivery under managed services will be considered an important advantage.
